First and foremost, balance and harmony of the face is so very important.
Each patient wants a beautiful, balanced face and a gorgeous smile.
Orthodontists should not create faces with the teeth so protruded that
the
patient cannot close his/her mouth without straining the musculature.
A dentition must function properly with canine protected occlusion
as the jaw is moved from side to side. Our patients receive removable
retainers when braces are removed. They do not wear these retainers
all of their life. The following photos of "former" patients
who were treated in the mid 70's and who were recalled for records attest
to what we are trying to do. They have gorgeous smiles and healthy,
"straight" teeth.
